Becoming a customer
Documentation required for personal accounts:
- a completed and signed application form for opening a personal account;
- a valid passport or Surinamese ID card, or Surinamese driver's license;
- an employer's statement, or proof of other types of income. If the person concerned has his own business, an original extract from the Chamber of Commerce must be submitted, dated no earlier than one month before the account is opened;
Student accounts also require a student card or school statement, as well as a power of attorney signed by the parents.
If the applicant is a non-resident, in addition, a letter of reference must be submitted from the foreign bank where the applicant holds an account.
INITIAL DEPOSIT
When opening an account, an initial deposit must be deposited immediately.
An initial deposit of 100,- applies to all foreign exchange accounts.
The documents for opening a foreign exchange account are identical to those for opening an SRD account.

To become a Hakrinbank business customer, open a business account (savings or checking account) at any Hakrinbank branch in the city or district. The documents to be submitted before opening the account are:
- application form for opening a business account, indicating the names of the persons authorized to sign on the account, and any restrictions;
- copies of valid passports of the signing authority (personal data, photo, signature, and validity), or Surinamese ID card, or Surinamese driver's license;
- original extract from the Chamber of Commerce, dated no earlier than one month before the opening of the account;
- a copy of the approved Articles of Association.
Note: The same applies to associations. Foundations must submit a deed of incorporation from the notary.
If the applicant is a non-resident, in addition, a letter of reference must be submitted from the foreign bank where the applicant holds an account.
A student account can be opened at any Hakrinbank branch upon presentation of:
- a student card, or other proof of registration from the educational institution. VOJ [Secondary Education at Junior Level] students must have a statement provided by the Bank, signed and stamped by the school principal;
- a valid identification document, such as ID card/passport/driver's license. If none of these documents is available to VOJ students, the legal representative must be present, bringing a family booklet and a photo of the prospective account holder.
Underage students (younger than 21 years) require a power of attorney from the legal representative. Power of attorney forms are available at the counter and may be submitted for signing.
The minimum first deposit on a student account is SRD 100,-
Opening an account with the Hakrinbank is free of charge. Upon opening, a first deposit will have to be made immediately. An initial deposit of 100,- applies to all foreign exchange accounts.
